Nikolaou inevitably addresses the role of sculpture as artistic medium within the contemporary context of the 'post-medium condition' in visual arts. She explores form and its qualities, beyond formalist/modernist orthodoxies, or for the same matter, the notion that form is obsolete (yet somehow still lends itself for casual use), revisiting, renewing and through her work, vindicating it.
