Athena Nikolaou presents in her solo exhibition a body of work outside her comfort zone as she adopts media and techniques new to her, following her artistic instinct. She responds thereby, to her need for an intense, orgiastic almost, opening to the physical space.

This is her way of negotiating, through artistic means, the phenomenon of the human need to mediate their relationship with the world around them through the notion of the sacred. Nikolaou as sculptor creates self-contained/ compact sculptures as well as constructions. She also employs the use of technology in the form of digital printing on surfaces or videos. Through these artistic approaches she presents artworks which are visually striking while at the same time conceptually multilayered and dense.
